Heatherworks.co.uk is the on-line shop created by beadwork Artist Heather Kingsley-Heath.
My work is inspired by many things and my favourite words when creating new designs are inspiration, innovation and temptation. Lots of things give me inspiration and it doesn't take much to tempt me to sit and bead to try out a new idea. My aim is always to create beadwork to first wear and enjoy for myself, then to teach the designs to my students, then to publish the designs so that they can be enjoyed by beaders the world over. So the designs I publish have been truly tried and tested. I also love to research beadwork techniques and the curiosity to see what happens next with my beady experiments has resulted in books, so that I can share my ideas with you.
My book on CD “Bead Net’ is the result of several years work to explore the possibilities of creating self supporting hollow netted forms and is filled with projects to show you how to recreate the designs.
I love to play with beads and Albion Stitch is the result of a lot of evenings spent fiddling to see what would happen. What happened was a stitch that is really easy to learn, but so versatile. It's been really exciting to see how students play and experiment with the stitch, because once you have learned the basic stitch there are no hidden tricks, just lots of lovely variations to explore. Make ribbons, circles, tubes, lace patterns and beaded beads, all of which I share with you in book one. The Albion Stitch story doesn't stop there, because this simple stitch is ideal for creating really easy to stitch bezels, three dimensional shapes, flower leaves, butterflies and so much more. These designs are in book two. Still not convinced? A whole book can be daunting if you're just not sure if you'll like the designs, so I've created two worksheets for you to try. The first, Albion Beads, shows how to create beaded beads and disc shapes to make up into colourful necklaces and bracelets. The Second, Lush Lariats, shares the Tea dance lariat from book one plus a new lariat variation that curves seductively.
